Soft Ripple Chevron Scarf Crochet Pattern

Soft Ripple Chevron Scarf Crochet Pattern

I’m not entirely sure when the chevron pattern came into style, but I began making projects with it around 5 years ago. I love the look of this scarf due to the softness of the ripples: this is achieved by using half double crochet instead of the traditional single crochet. Another added benefit of the half double crochet is that this greatly reduces the amount of time spent on making this scarf! See below for my soft ripple chevron scarf crochet pattern and colors used to achieve this look.

Let’s Get Started!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Materials

    • Caron Simply Soft: White (2 oz)
    • Caron Simply Soft: Strawberry (2 oz)
    • Caron Simply Soft: Lt Country Blue (2 oz)
  • Stitches used: chain, half double crochet
  • Other Techniques: color changing
  • Abbreviations:
    • ch- chain
    • hdc- half double crochet
    • sk- skip
    • st- stitch

Instructions: Soft Ripple Chevron Scarf

Row 1: Chain 35. Make 2 hdc in the second ch from the hook. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 ch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 3 hdc in the next ch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 ch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 3 hdc in the next ch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 ch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 2 hdc in the last ch.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. 2 hdc in the first stitch. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 st. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 3 hdc in the next st. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 st. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 3 hdc in the next st. Hdc in the next 4 st. Sk 2 st. Hdc in the next 4 st. Make 2 hdc in the last st.

Repeat Row 2 until scarf is at desired length. Here is the color scheme that I used for the scarf pictured:

  • 6 Rows Lt Country Blue
  • 6 Rows Black
  • 6 Rows White
  • 6 Rows Black
  • 6 Rows Strawberry
  • 6 Rows Black

I repeated this color scheme 4 times, and then ended the scarf with 6 rows of Lt Country Blue so both ends ended on the same color. This scarf was a total of 150 rows.
