About Me

Once upon a time in a faraway land, I began my quest to be the most artistic person on the planet when I was 11. I tried everything that you could imagine: paint-by-numbers, calligraphy, loom knitting, knitting, bead animals, and sewing. Finally, I discovered crochet by accident. I went on vacation to visit my aunt, and I saw her crocheting a blanket. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! What kind of crazy voodoo magic causes a blanket to be formed out of nothing but a ball of string, and a metal hook. Since then, it’s been my favorite form of crafting.

Fast forward over a decade later, and here I am in Houston, TX. I still loom knit sometimes, but mostly I crochet. In the past year, I have also become pretty adept at traditional knitting (but I still can not make socks!) Being left handed, learning knitting and crochet had its challenges, for every pattern that I would find never really worked for me. After a few years of troubleshooting, I can successfully say that I can work with almost any pattern and can write patterns that work whether you are right-handed or left- handed.

When I’m not working on my crochet and knitting empire, my day job consists of working in a lab, testing polymer additives. You may have noticed that there was a 3 year “quiet time” on the blog… during this time, I was completing a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering and struggled to find free time for crafting. However, I graduated at the end of 2018 (YAY!) and now can focus on my first love- making beautiful things and helping others do the same.
